Ice Station Zebra
Just another day .. Without any football games to worry about...... just hockey
..... in the winter that never ends..
When that first green beer hits the lips..... winter will be backing out the door.
Now there is "Officially" nothing to do here at the beach for the next 2 months.
If you have spare cash sitting around , ...its time to book your flight to warmer shores.
Til then..... I will continue to hunker down and figure out ways to shave money from the electric and gas bills.
That is all... Does any one have a can opener?

Katherine the Great
Guess I better start writing in this blog before I get too bogged down.
Winter in OC is very dreary, actually OC is like a ghost town during the week.. Weekends offer a bit of excitement usually from the football games in the local establishments. We have about 120 days of off season lock-down and we are about 1/3 of the way through. This is the time of year when you or your friends are planning to get out of town Anywhere! For me it was the desert in Arizona for a few weeks. Unplanned though... My sweet mom passed into the great beyond after a good run of 89 years... so the family had an unplanned get together. Born in the Finger Lakes NY, survived the Great Depression and aided the boys in WW2...successfully raised a family of five and retired to Sun City Az.. We gave her a great sendoff... She could have had heart surgery but made the decision against living into her 90's. Have to respect that.... GOD Speed mom .. Save me a seat at Heaven's Bar. So now its back to the resort deep freeze. Days are short, cold and zip bye at amazing regularity. Really makes you feel like your timeline speeds up.
Jobs are fewer money is tighter bills are increasing.... Survival mode kicks in. and then
before you know it we will be drinking green beer at Shenanigans... that's when we turn the page in my book.... but until then its stoke the logs in the fireplace, keep the wine and beer stocked.... have the remote back-up batteries near, hit the gym and keep moving forward ......

Don't you think the ultra rich fat cats who own these oil wells would have had numerous plans already in place in the event of a catastrophe like this? I mean Come On! Its a shame that the 4 or 5 states along the Gulf Coast did not have a backup plan with the number of oil wells off their coast. Now they pay the ultimate price for being stupid. The blame game starts. Also why have they not been laying down barriers night and day along the entire coast before the oil arrives? It's been nearly a month since the disaster and somehow the oil reaches the marshes. Each state and county should be throwing their entire workforce into keeping this from reaching "their" shores.. Unreal. Just give that bill to BP.......Did you see the viral video of the 2 farmers who have the idea that all the hay and some other type of grain that they are harvesting down south right now should be spread into the slick and the oil get absorbed right into it for easy cleanup. Well I guess that is too easy a solution and their is no profit to be made...or lawyers who can make profit on it . Where is the leadership in our country when we need it? A sad state of affairs just keeps festering in America.

The NFL Fantasy
Dear Sports Fanatics.......Now that you have had time to chill from your victory or defeat . its time to take a step back and look at the big picture....I have learned over the years thru many great wins and numerous ugly losses that the NFL does not send me a check or cash for the effort.... .I have no stock in my Steelers ...There are no pension checks coming in the mail . I have never received a stimulus payment from the Ravens . So with that said ... why should I or anyone invest so much of their time and energy on any team.. ??? It's a false GOD
It is not worth being bummed out and depressed for days on end , or stressing pre-game for a team that I have nothing to do with. Why should I kick the dog or not talk to the wife because Brady did not come through in the clutch.
The countless hours I have wasted on the NFL and Steelers when I could have been more productive with my time, my work and family....the yard.......the things that really count in life..
People are living their lives thru these teams ... Spending enormous amounts of time and money and unneeded stress for what???? I'll tell you what... chachinggggggg the cash registers ring...non stop
to make the NFL and it's sponsors richer..!!!! That's all it is ONE HUGE MONEY MACHINE that we poor suckers buy into. How much Bud Lite can they force feed you in commercials..How many more Geico ads do they have to cram in our brains. If I see one more Progressive Insurance spot with that stupid Flo... I am moving to Haiti.! 6 dollar beers, 5 dollar hotdogs , $20 dollar premium parking .. and a $175 dollar tickets to a seat in the upper deck... to watch a bunch of overpaid premadonna- tattooed hip hop dancing , gang sign flashing ...... smack talking , gun toting dredlock wearing steroid injected thug... do his, I'm the Greatest "dance in the endzone. Lets celebrate a basic sack like we just won the Freeking Superbowl Baby!! ..Lets forearm shiver some guys head into concussionville and dance on his limp body because " I am One Bad Mo Fo Yo" Look at me... Send me mo money .......
Its not your fathers NFL anymore. Its a pre-packaged sydicated network corporate marketing plan designed specifically for all the suckers that have no lives that wanna live their life thru the glories of a football team that makes them feel less like the loser they really are.
Paint their faces and put on their Raider costumes so they can get noticed,,, Wear a rubber dog mask and get some cheap laughs and maybe get on Prime Time....., Pay $125 for a Ben Roelisberger shirt so they can be like Ben or be a tough guy steppin out on the town in my Ray Lewis shirt ,, etc....IT'S A FANTASY PEOPLE!! WAKE UP!! Quit beating your wife because your team did not cover the spread.....
Enjoy reality everyday reality..... thats where you get paid big time........Jack
ps Are the Jets getting 5.5 or 7 pts. this weekend?
